About

Our Mission

Our fundamental mission is to train experts in the field of cultural heritage preservation and restoration through an interdisciplinary educational approach that combines scientific analysis methods with historical and aesthetic sensitivity.

Our department aims to develop interventions that preserve the originality and integrity of artifacts by bringing together art history, archaeology, chemistry, materials science, and conservation techniques.

Through our educational model, which integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application, we aim to enable our students to acquire analytical thinking skills, select the correct intervention method, and develop ethical responsibility on artifacts belonging to different material groups (textile, paper, wood, ceramics, metal, etc.).

Our Vision

To become a leading education and research center that is a reference point at national and international levels in the field of cultural heritage preservation, developing innovative techniques and standing out with its scientific output.

We aim to be a pioneering department that produces sustainable and contemporary solutions for the preservation of cultural heritage through new technologies, laboratory-based analysis methods, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Why Interdisciplinary?

Movable cultural heritage; These are complex structures made from different materials, exposed to physical, chemical, and environmental influences over time. Therefore, their preservation is a multi-layered process that cannot be limited to a single field of expertise. Our department focuses on this multi-layered structure, offering an educational model that brings together different disciplines and trains its students to manage complex preservation processes from a holistic perspective.
